Overview
Petzi Pal ("we," "our," or "us") respects your right to control your personal data. This page explains how to request deletion of your account and associated data, what happens once a request is submitted, and what information we may need to retain. For more detail on what data we collect and why, see our Privacy Policy.
How to Request Deletion
To request deletion of your Petzi Pal account and personal data, email us at support@petzipal.lk from the email address registered on your account, with the subject line "Account Data Deletion Request". Please include:
- The full name and email address on your account
- The phone number linked to your account, if different
- Whether you want your account deleted entirely, or specific data removed
We verify every request against the account on file before proceeding, to prevent someone else from deleting your data on your behalf.
What Gets Deleted
Once a deletion request is verified, we permanently remove:
- Your account profile (name, email, phone number, password)
- Pet profiles and associated details
- Saved addresses and payment methods on file
- In-app notification history and preferences
- Uploaded profile pictures and other media
What We May Retain
Some information cannot be deleted immediately because we are legally or contractually required to keep it, including:
- Transaction and payment records, retained for accounting, tax, and fraud-prevention purposes as required by law
- Records of completed bookings needed to resolve an active dispute, refund, or chargeback
- Communications (including WhatsApp and email notifications) already delivered to third-party providers such as Meta, which fall outside our systems once sent
Retained records are kept only as long as legally necessary, are not used for any other purpose, and are deleted once the retention obligation expires.
Processing Time
We process verified deletion requests within 30 days. You'll receive a confirmation email once your account and associated data (excluding anything described above) have been removed.
Third-Party Services
Petzi Pal uses third-party services to operate the platform, including payment processing, cloud storage, and messaging providers (email and WhatsApp). Deleting your Petzi Pal account removes your data from our own systems; any data already processed by these providers is subject to their own retention and deletion policies.
